About the Role

Do you love spending time with dogs and helping them thrive in a fun, engaging environment? If the answer is yes, then you might just be the perfect fit as a Daycare & Playgroup Monitor! At Klondike Canine Academy (the behavior and training branch of Blair Animal Clinic & Klondike Kennels), you’ll spend your days surrounded by puppy eyes and overseeing off-leash playgroup and daycare sessions while making sure every pup has a positive experience.

Shift times:

Playgroups:
Wednesdays: 3:30pm- 6:30pm

Fridays: 3:30pm- 6:30pm

Saturdays: 9:30am- 12:30pm

Sundays 1:30pm- 4:30pm
Daycare:

Monday-Friday: 8am- Noon, 2pm- 6pm

Availability Requirements:
- Must be flexible and available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, school breaks and holidays; including before, day of, and the days after Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and Spring Break

Job Requirements:

- Previous experience in dog care (i.e. dog walking, pet sitting, doggie daycare, or boarding kennel or veterinary assistant)

- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors, even when the weather is not perfect

- Must be able to walk large dogs (50 lbs+) and handle different breeds with confidence

-While an animal care background is desired, a deep love for pets and a willingness to learn will go a long way. Don’t worry, we’ll show you the ropes (and the leashes)
- Strong desire to learn about canine behavior

 

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

- Supervising playgroups and making sure every pup has a safe and enjoyable experience

- Monitoring canine behavior for any changes or concerns (and alerting leaders when needed)

- Engaging with pet parents and giving updates on their dog’s progress

- Helping dogs stay active by guiding play sessions

- Cleaning and set-up play areas and kennel runs
